Cookie Policy
This page explains cookie policy for visitors of Rob in Hood Digital. It is not marketing copy. It sets out which cookie files this site uses, what each one does, how long it stays on your device, and how you can change or withdraw your choice.
Applies to rob-in-hood.digital and to every course track page: cybersecurity, DevOps and cloud, AI and AI governance, and the pages that explain how our courses work. Questions about this policy can go to the contact page linked at the end.

Read this page in about six minutes. The sections below run in the order most visitors need them: what a cookie is, which files we set, how to remove them, and where to ask questions.
What a cookie file is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It holds a short label and a value, not a copy of your data. When you come back to the same site, the browser sends that file back, which is how a site can remember that you already chose a language, closed a notice, or started filling in a form.
Two terms appear in this policy and are worth keeping apart. Session cookies disappear when you close the browser tab. Persistent cookies stay for a set number of days and are removed by your browser once that period passes, or earlier if you clear them yourself. Neither kind reads other files on your device, and neither kind runs programs.
Cookies on this site are set by us or, in the limited cases described in section 5, by a service whose page we embed. They are grouped by purpose in the two sections below: the ones the site needs in order to work, and the ones you can decline without losing access to any course material.
The same notice applies to every page of the academy, including the track pages and the course guides, so you only have to make the choice once per browser.
Essential cookies we set
These files keep the site working and cannot be switched off from our side. If you block them in your browser, some pages will behave oddly — a form may lose what you typed, or the cookie notice may appear again on every visit.
Consent record
Remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies, and when you made that choice. Without it we cannot tell a first visit from a returning one, so the notice would keep reappearing.
Stays up to 12 months, or until you clear your browser storage.
Form and session state
Holds the working state of a page while you are on it — for example which step of a form you reached, or which accordion you opened on a course page. It prevents a page from resetting itself when you refresh.
Ends when you close the browser tab.
Load balancing and abuse checks
Marks which server handled your request so repeated visits stay consistent, and helps filter automated traffic that would slow the site down for everyone. No profile of you is built from it.
Short-lived; typically minutes to a few hours.
Display preferences
Keeps a display choice you made, such as reduced motion or a larger text setting, so it holds as you move between the track pages and the course guides.
Stays until you change the setting or clear storage.
Optional cookies and analytics
Optional cookies are off unless you turn them on. They help us see which course pages people read, where a sign-up step is abandoned, and which explanations need a clearer rewrite. Declining them does not remove any content: every track page, guide, and policy stays readable.
If you accept, the data we see is aggregated — page totals and traffic sources, not a list of named individuals. We do not sell it and we do not use it to build advertising profiles of learners.
What analytics records
- Which pages were opened and roughly how long they stayed on screen.
- Which link or search result brought a visitor to the site.
- General device and browser type, used to check that layouts render correctly.
- Not your name, your email address, or the answers you type into a form.
Change the choice at any time using the cookie notice on the site, or through your browser settings. Turning analytics off stops new records; it does not delete older aggregated totals.
Changing or removing cookies
You have two places to act, and they do different things. The cookie notice on this site controls optional cookies only. Your browser controls every cookie a site has stored, including the essential ones.
Change your cookie choice
Open the cookie notice from the link in the footer and pick a different option. The change applies to optional cookies right away; already-recorded totals stay as they are.
If you clear your browser storage, the choice is forgotten and the notice will ask again on your next visit.
Remove stored files
Every major browser has a settings page for cookies and site data. Look for privacy or site settings, then either block third-party cookies or delete what is stored for rob-in-hood.digital.
Blocking all cookies will log you out of stored preferences and may reset forms in progress. Browsing the course pages still works.
Private browsing windows usually accept session cookies for the length of the window and discard them when you close it. Clearing cookies is not the same as clearing your browser history, and clearing history does not always remove cookie files. If you use more than one browser or more than one device, each one keeps its own separate choice.
Other services on our pages
A few pages load a service that is not run by us. These services may set their own cookie when the page loads or when you use the element. We choose them for a specific job and do not hand over course or learner records.
Lesson players
Where a lesson clip is embedded, the player may store a file to remember playback position or a quality setting. If you never press play, the player generally sets nothing.
Measurement tools
Analytics described in section 3 is the only measurement we run. It loads after you accept optional cookies, and it is never the reason a page fails to open.
Sign-in and progress storage
Once you have an account, a session file keeps you signed in and tracks which lessons you finished so you can pick up where you stopped. This one is treated as essential while you are signed in.
Ads and tracking pixels
We do not run advertising cookies on the course pages. If that ever changes, this section will name the service and the choice will sit in the same notice as the optional analytics switch.
Questions and updates
If something about cookies here is unclear, or you want to know what a specific file on your device does, write to us and we will explain it. We review this page when the tools behind the site change, and the review date at the top of the page moves with it.

ContactDo I have to accept cookies to read the course pages?
No. Every track description, guide, and policy page opens whether or not you accept optional cookies. Declining only stops the analytics records described in section 3.
What happens if I clear my browser cookies?
Stored preferences and your cookie choice are removed, so the notice asks again on your next visit. If you were signed in, you will need to sign in once more.
Do cookies track what I type into a form?
A session file can hold the state of a page while you are filling it in, so a refresh does not wipe your entries. What you submit goes to us as a message; it is not stored inside a cookie.
How will I know when this policy changes?
The review date at the top of this page changes whenever we update the wording. If a change affects the optional analytics choice, the cookie notice will ask you again instead of reusing your old answer.
Where can I read the rest of your legal pages?
The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information you send us, and the Terms of Service covers the rules for using the site and the course material. Both are linked from the footer on every page.
Ask us about a specific cookie file and we will tell you what sets it and what it is used for.
